Countdown to an Organized Christmas: Gift Ideas

{If you’ve missed the previous posts in this series you can find them here.}

In order to have an organized Christmas, today we need to focus on a couple of things.

(1) Who do you need to buy for?
(2) What do you need to buy for them?

The first question may be a bit easier to answer than the second one.

Start thinking about who you need to buy for — family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, the mailman, your child’s teacher… whoever is in your life that you usually give a present during the holidays.

And don’t overlook the people that you make a gift for — not all presents are bought!  {In fact, some of best ones I’ve received weren’t purchased!}

You don’t have to know exactly what you’re buying for every person on your list today.  Just start thinking about it today.  Write down some ideas as they come to you.  It will make things so much easier when you start making/buying presents if you already have an idea what you’re doing for that person.

I like to jot gift ideas down through the year when someone gives me an idea about what they might like.  For example, my brother commented a few weeks ago that he was running out of “nice” t-shirts to wear (he likes the ones with funny sayings, etc.) because all of his were getting old.  Last week while shopping for something else I ran across the perfect t-shirt for him and picked it up.

Little things like that will go a long way in making your Christmas season a more organized experience.  No one likes going to the store on Christmas Eve without the first idea on what to get Great Aunt Betty.  That’s when Great Aunt Betty usually ends up with a scarf.  Or a gift card.  Don’t be mean to yourself (or Great Aunt Betty) — write down some gift ideas now and save yourself the stress.

And now, the homework:

Today’s Assignment:  You guessed it.  Start writing down gift ideas.  And be sure and stick them in your CCJ so you’ll know where you put them.  Not that any of us would ever lose anything, right? 🙂

Today’s Printable:  Your very own CCJ gift ideas printable.
