Goals for the Week

Here were the goals for last week and how I did on them:

~ Continue daily the Habit of the Month {September: Getting Dressed to the Shoes} {October: Declutter 15 Minutes Daily}.
    Ugh.  So far I’m not doing so great on this habit.  I clean daily, but I don’t declutter daily.  Going to have to write myself a posty note to remember!
~ Daily Bible reading – Bible study on the book of John.
    Done!
~ Complete the first six posts in my 31 days of posting challenge.  {Eeek!  I’m nervous about this!}
    Done!  It’s fun and challenging — I look forward to the next week of posts!
~ Focus on reading to both children every day.
    I’m blessed that both of my children seem to enjoy books.  Although at the moment J is more intent on chewing on them than reading them.  But one step at a time! 🙂
~ Exercise about 300 fitness minutes.
    Nope.  I only did about half of what I should have done.  Gotta get back in the groove this week!
~ Continue/finish reading one of my books/ebooks.  I’m currently reading The Virtuous WomanHealthy HomemakingLapbooking Made Simple and 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life.
I didn’t read a single word of any book other than the Bible — unless you count children’s books.  I did read a lot of those!
~ Clean out and organize my computer files.
    Yeah… that’s going to take more time than I realized.  A LOT more time.  But I’m making progress!!
~ Finish decorating for fall.
    Done!  For now.  I’m still looking for something for my front porch.  It’s not complete but I don’t know what it needs… I guess I’ll know it when I see it.

And these are my goals for this week — I’ll only have eight goals for a while:

~ Continue daily the Habit of the Month {October: Declutter 15 Minutes Daily}.
~ Daily Bible reading – Bible study on the book of John.
~ Complete the next seven posts in my 31 days of posting challenge.
~ Tend to last minute details for J’s 1st birthday party next week.
~ Exercise about 300 fitness minutes.
~ Continue/finish reading one of my books/ebooks.  I’m currently reading The Virtuous WomanHealthy Homemaking, Lapbooking Made Simple and 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life.
~ Continue cleaning and organizing my computer files.
~ Clean out C’s closet — I’m pretty sure these kids outgrow clothes on a weekly basis.

  1. WOW! This article REALLY hit home with me!! lol. I felt like I was reading a blog from the future me – the “me” I want to be!! So I have a lot of comments…
    – Goals for the week!! Brilliant idea! I love the idea of blogging about it because it holds you a little more accountable! I want to jump in – any tips to get started? Do you follow a specific website? And can I borrow your “Goals for the Week” little logo thingy?
    – Is your daily habit from the Flylady? I just love her – but I always find there is so much to do I am overwhelmed. I never thought about just doing 1 of the things she suggests. Although I do try to shine my sink every night. It doesn’t always happen – but it sure feels great to wake up to a clean sink on the nights I do remember it!
    – 31 days of post challenging. I want to make this a priority!! Again – do you follow a specific website or format? I want to play!
    – I want to commend you on making an effort to read to your children every day. I am an Educational Consultant for Usborne Books and am committed to getting families more involved. There just aren’t enough parents that understand how important that is. Big HUGE hi-five to you!
    – If J is super young try books like the “That’s Not My…” series. I did not comment here to sell you anything. I promise! It’s just that I’m so passionate about what I do. You can search for the books at FreeBookFairy.com. I need to stress I don’t go around posting on peoples blogs to sell books…lol. You can check out my comments all over WordPress. I’m totally just here to have fun and meet fellow moms. 🙂
    – You may not have hit your goal of 300 fitness minutes – but you admitted to half of that and that is a HUGE effort! Moms these days are lucky to have time to shower – much less find time to exercise first! I NEED/WANT to make this change! (Not the showering part – I do squeeze that in – barely.)
    – Your last one said “Finish Decorating for Fall” and you marked that off, even though you still need one more thing. So if you didn’t actually finish this and still crossed it off – I think that totally justifies marking the 300 fitness minutes off too – and then giving yourself a big huge pat on the back!

    Really looking forward to following your blog and watching to see how you do with your challenge! I really want to start too!! Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

    • First off, thank you so much for the kind words! I am far from where I want to be as well, but all we can do is try and do better every day.

      Let me see if I can answer your questions —
      ~ Blogging about my goals REALLY helps my productivity. Having the blog really holds me accountable; I get far more done when I blog about it than when I don’t. Actually, Crystal at Money Saving Mom got me started on writing out my goals. She has some resources and great tips to get you started if you want to check it out. And yes, you may borrow my logo thingy!
      ~ This daily habit is from Flylady. I find myself getting overwhelmed sometimes too so at the beginning of the year I decided to come up with 12 things to implement this year. Some are from Flylady and some are my own concoctions. You can read more about it here, if you like. And I am totally with you on the shiny sink thing — whole kitchen stays cleaner if I shine my sink!
      ~ 31 days of posting challenge is hosted by The Nester. She has done thisbo for the past five years (I think) every October. This is my first time participating and I’m having such fun with it! It’s challenging, but fun.
      ~ I believe it is utterly important to read to your children. I have been doing so since my babies were tiny little things. Neither one can read for themselves yet so Mama’s gotta do it for them! Although my oldest (who’s 3) will make up words to any book she has in her hand — even the Bible. lol!
      ~ I’ll check out he “That’s Not My…” series. Thanks for mentioning it! I’m always on the look out for great books!
      ~ About the fitness minutes — some days I’m happy if I can finally get around to taking a shower too. 😀 But I know that if I don’t make myself a priority that the whole family suffers. The old adage “If Mama ain’t happy…” is definitely true!
      ~ I have finished decorating, but I am not happy with the look of the outdoor decorations. It needs something… extra. Maybe I can find “it” when they start putting the fall decorations on sale in a few weeks! (I hate paying full price for decorations. lol)

      • Thanks so much for getting back to me. October has been an insane month for me so far!! I still have so much to do. I haven’t been able to get any blogging in and that just is not cool!
